Misery Index - Discordia - 2006

There are only a small handful of bands that actually PROGRESS with their music. While up for debate, Misery Index is definately one of them. Since their first CD in 2001, the band has released two EPs and two full length CDs. Every fucking one of them is good. I can't help but to compare them to old Dying Fetus, (not that Stop at Nothing gay ass shit but the classic Dying Fetus we have all grown to love).

The comparison is easy to make though since both the vocalist and guitarist were ported over from the classic Fetus days. According to their website http://www.miseryindex.com, they have been through a small handful of members in different positions. This may be true, but you know what? Fuck it! Their sound has stayed very constant, not changing with every band member glitch.

Whats it sound like? Intense. That's all I can say. You can expect a brutal breakoff bridge in each song. And you can also expect a change in tempo every 20 seconds. This isn't saying all the songs sound the same though. They are definately unique and have a great fast paced crunch attached to them. Low growls, a drummer who's legs should fall off he's so fast, and their thrashy death metal sound complete a perfect fucking balance of brutally heavy. This is definate mosh pit music.

Again, one could debate which of their cds is better, but Discordia definately is not a sellout CD. It ranks up there with their old shit.

I remember reading about something the "liberal" media concocted to ridicule Jimmy Carter. Take a look around, tons of jobs lost, interest rates rising, cost of gas rising, soldiers dying, Id kind of like to know where it all rates on the "misery index." Did the "liberal" media shelve that to protect shrub from setting new Misery records?
